Autumn Leaves

 

The sky is gloomy, with clouds covering the rays of the sun, only emitting a faint glow as the rest of the afternoon proceeds with its business. Splashes of yellows, browns, and oranges dance in the autumn wind as leaves began to fall from tree branches too high up for an average person like him to reach.

The pathway Jimin always took is now piled up with dying leaves, waiting for a gust of wind to blow them apart. It was a day like no other, yet he could feel a budding blossom in his stomach as he thinks about where his feet were leading him to.

October has always been his favorite month. Not only does his favorite season happens in it, but it's also when he is celebrating his birthday. Anticipating for October is like anticipating for the fireworks to start on New Year's Eve - it was exciting yet a little bit bittersweet because another year has yet again passed in his life. In 12 days, Jimin will be turning 27 yet he feels like the life he's leading is still lacking in so many areas. Despite the success he's had when he finally achieved his goal of becoming the best dance teacher in Seoul's leading performing arts academy, there's still something missing that only his heart knows how to quench.

Jimin tends to have wandering thoughts when he's out walking and on this particular day, while he was traversing an all too familiar path, clutching a bouquet of pink and yellow roses, he couldn't help but think about the man he's gonna give these flowers to. It's been two months since Yoongi started courting Jimin and as much as he liked the attention, Jimin has come to a decision to finally agree to date the elder exclusively. His heart was giddy with anticipation as he hurried up his steps towards Yoongi's flat.

Jimin wasn't really the "surprises" kind of person but on an ordinary day like today, maybe it was love that made him do spontaneous things like buying a dozen roses and walking up to the apartment of the guy he fancies just to tell him that he likes him back. It wasn't a big deal, but he felt it was the perfect time to make it official.

The surprise was apparent on Yoongi's face when he saw Jimin standing in front of his door. A big, wide smile automatically spread across his face eye-ing the younger's blushing face.

"Hi, I didn't expect to see you today," Yoongi said, pulling Jimin inside his flat giving him a warm hug. Jimin shivered as his lover started nuzzling his nose on the crook of his neck, giving him a few pecks here and there.

"Well, I was walking home taking the path through the park and I saw how the leaves were starting to fall from the trees and I realized that-please don't laugh at how cheesy this will sound," Jimin was flustered now. He was so confident a moment ago but all the bravado was gone when he sees Yoongi's soft, expecting face. He took a deep breath and continued.

"I realized I need to stop all pretenses because life is short and I don't want to waste time anymore. I like you, Yoongi-hyung. I've liked you ever since that night in Han River when you went out of your way just to spend time with me. I like you and I want to be with you. So if it's okay with you, I want to be your boyfriend now." I looked at him shyly as I hand him the flowers I brought.

The feeling was unexplainable and Yoongi didn't have words on how to react to what Jimin had just said so he did the one thing he knows that will show all his love. He kissed Jimin. His lips engulfing the soft, plump ones of the younger. He kissed him with all the longing he felt and all the gratitude his heart is feeling. He has loved Jimin since they met in college 8 years ago and he took the risk of ruining their friendship by confessing his feelings because he just couldn't hide it anymore. Knowing how Jimin feels the same way made his heart so happy, he thought it was going to burst from joy.

"I love you," Yoongi whispered.

"I love you, too, hyung. I love you, too."
